Our Mission
Since opening our first indoor climbing gym in Worcester, MA in 2009, we’ve grown to more than 29 locations across Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Florida. Every gym we build reflects the same core belief: that climbing builds not just strength, but community. From our youth programs and community events to fundraising initiatives and welcoming walls, we are proud to give back to the communities that make Central Rock Gym what it is, and we’re committed to ensuring everyone feels at home the moment they walk through our doors.
World-Class Route Setting
The quality of your climbing experience depends on the quality of the routes, and we take that seriously.
Each week, our members encounter a wide variety of new boulder problems and rope routes spanning the full difficulty spectrum. Every gym has a dedicated head setter who knows the local community and tailors the route distribution to the needs of their specific membership.
Great setting starts with great holds. We equip our setters with the newest shapes and volumes on the market, continuously refreshing our inventory so the problems stay fresh, inspiring, and fun. We invest significant time and energy into our setting program because our members deserve it.
Community Impact
Climbing is for everyone. With this belief in view we have several initiatives that work towards making climbing a more accessible sport in our local communities. Some the initiatives we have to work towards this are:
Partnerships with community organizations: We work with leaders in local non-profit organizations that serve underrepresented youth.
Sliding Scale Membership: While we are committed to providing quality climbing access to the communities we serve, we recognize that for some our membership pricing can be a barrier to our sport. Each gym has a limited number of new memberships per month that it can offer at our sliding scale rate. Click here to learn more.
Diversity Fund
Many of our members have expressed their desire to help increase diversity and access in our sport and maintain an environment where everyone feels welcome and safe. We donate to several non-profit organizations every month. We are currently supporting:

Our History: 15+ Years of Climbing Gyms
From a single location in Worcester to a network of 29 indoor climbing gyms across the Northeast and Florida, here’s how Central Rock Gym grew:
2009 — Worcester, MA
Central Rock Gym Worcester was where it all began. Built from the ground up, this first location set the standard with bouldering and 40-foot rope walls, a steep lead wall, and an abundance of natural light. Worcester proved that there was a real appetite for world-class climbing in New England — and we haven’t stopped building since.
2011 — Hadley, MA
Our Western Massachusetts community was driving over an hour to climb in Worcester. Central Rock Gym Hadley was our answer. Situated near the incredible outdoor climbing at Farley Ledges, Hadley added fitness equipment and yoga classes to the CRG experience for the first time — raising the bar for everything that came after.
2013 — Watertown, MA
Central Rock Gym Watertown, recently completed a huge renovation, adding a game room and yoga room. The flagship location looks better than ever and continues to be ranked among the top 10 largest climbing gyms in the country since opening. With a 50-foot lead wall, dedicated yoga and fitness spaces, and a track record as a competition venue — including hosting US Nationals twice — Watertown remains one of the premier climbing facilities in the country.
2013 — Glastonbury, CT
Central Rock Gym’s first Connecticut location brought CRG to the Hartford area in a big way. Glastonbury’s open, airy layout includes a mezzanine fitness space, gear shop, yoga studio, bouldering and training area, 100+ top-rope stations, and a massive lead cave.
