Introduction to Climbing

First time climbing?  Been to the gym before but want more information and training on safe climbing habits?  The Intro to Climbing course is perfect for getting novice climbers up to speed on the sport of climbing.  Our instructors will take you through the basics of belaying (more info here), including explanation of climbing gear, proper knots, rope management, catching falls, and proper etiquette while in the facility.  In addition to the basics all participant will receive an hour of group instruction on basic climbing technique, proper use of climbing holds, effective footwork, and making your movement more efficient.  The end result will be a much more productive experience at our facility by not having to figure out the “easy stuff” on your own.

By successfully completing the introductory class, you will be able to start working on your climbing technique and endurance both on your own or, if you wish, through more advanced lessons or technique classes.

Cost: $40, includes -

  • 1 hour of instruction on proper belaying technique and gym safetly procedures
  • 1 hour of technique instruction to help new climbers get the most out of the visit to the facility

Schedule:

  • Weekdays: 6pm to 8pm on alternating Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  (See event calendar for specific dates)
  • Saturday: 11am to 1pm and 5pm to 7pm
  • Sunday: 12pm to 2pm
