Central Rock reserves the right to add or change Central Rock policies from time to time. Any such addition or change to these policies will be posted in the lobby of Central Rock. Climbers and others using Central Rock are required to inform themselves of new rules or rule changes. *Minimum age for climbers is 5 years old **MUST HAVE A WAIVER SIGNED BY PARENT OR GUARDIAN IF UNDER 18 YEARS OLD!! General Policies:All customers MUST check in at the front desk with the general staff before climbing. - All customers must sign a Waiver and Release of Claims Agreement. Minors 17 years or younger must have their waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.
- Parents are responsible for the behavior of their children while at Central Rock.
- No drugs or alcohol are allowed in Central Rock.
- Central Rock’s staff have the right to revoke climbing privileges either temporarily or permanently for unsafe or inappropriate behavior, which shall be determined by Central Rock staff in their sole and absolute discretion.
- Memberships are non-transferable.
- Central Rock is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen property while in or on the premises, parking lots or other areas within the vicinity of Central Rock.
- No hard sole shoes are allowed on the padded carpet.
- Please pickup after yourself. Help to keep the Central Rock clean for yourself and others.
- Staircase to the top of the boulder is only allowed for descending. You may not walk up the staircase for viewing.
- There is no topping out for any reason around the route-setting lift.
- No one is allowed behind rock structures, except Central Rock staff.
- No smoking in Central Rock.
- No food or drink allowed on the blue carpeted areas.
- If you are not climbing, you must remain in the front entry way, retail area, party room, bathrooms, or on the mezzanine.
- Climbers without ropes must stay below ten feet unless climbing in designated bouldering areas.
- No running.
Climbing Policies:- In order to provide a visual safety verification all roped climbers and belayers (top roping or leading) must display their belay card while climbing or belaying.
- Climbers may only use UIAA approved climbing gear. If they do not have the correct gear, they may rent gear from CRG.
- No one under the age of 14 is allowed to belay unless permission is granted by CRG management.
- All belayers and climbers must pass a belay test administered by Central Rock staff.
- Bouldering climbers cannot “topout” on bouldering structures unless specified at the beginning of the bouldering route.
- Climbers must tie in using the rewoven figure eight knot with a double fishermans backup knot.
- In addition to the top rope belay test, all lead climbers and belayers of lead climbers must pass a lead test administered by the CRG staff.
- Belayers must belay from their harness and not from a fixed anchor point.
- Lead climbers must provide their own UIAA approved rope (minimum 9.5mm) and the rope must be able to pass an inspection by Central Rock staff.
- Under no circumstances shall lead climbers skip a quickdraw in an attempt to “run it out” to the next quickdraw. Lead climbers must clip both top anchors before being lowered.
- Top rope and lead climbers may use either a Gri-Gri or a “tuber type” device (ATC).
- Climbers may not set up a top rope climb on a route that is specified “lead only.” There is no “following” allowed after the rope has been clipped through the quick draws.
- Climbers may practice their lead clipping with a mock lead. This means that they are belayed on top rope, but have a trailed lead rope that they will clip on the quick draws. This is only allowed on top-rope routes. Before you mock lead, you must notify a gym staff member.
- No sitting or lying down while belaying on top rope or lead.
- No loose chalk allowed on the gym floor. Only chalk balls.
- Route setting shall be performed only by those authorized by CRG.
- No Climbing in street shoes, unless the climber is 10 years old or less. Barefoot climbing is not allowed.
- Please remove all jewelry, keys, and watches from your hands and arms prior to climbing.
- Belayers must lower climbers at a smooth, controlled speed.
- Double check your climber, double check your belay BEFORE starting any climb.
- Do not climb off route. This will prevent you from a pendulum fall.
- Lead climbers may not take “practice” falls.
